Concert Choirs

East Singers

The varsity concert choir at East High School, Singers is open to juniors and seniors and meets each school day during 5th period. This ensemble provides students with the opportunity to further develop their vocal music skills and knowledge. Throughout the academic year, Singers performs in multiple concerts and community events, in addition to presenting East’s student-run variety show Expressions each May. Most members of East Singers audition annually for the Nebraska All-State Chorus and many study voice privately with area voice teachers. Auditions for East Singers take place annually each spring for the following academic year.

Eclipse

A selective, small ensemble, Eclipse is open to juniors and seniors and meets three days a week during 5th period. Students in Eclipse are also members of East Singers, rehearsing with them twice a week. Eclipse provides students with numerous opportunities to expand their musicianship skills and explore their vocal abilities, through singing a fusion of musical genres, including jazz, pop, and a cappella. Throughout the academic year, Eclipse performs in multiple concerts and community events, in addition to performing with East Singers. Members of Eclipse audition annually for the Nebraska All-State Chorus and many study voice privately with area voice teachers. Auditions for Eclipse take place annually each spring for the following academic year.

9-12th Grade Treble Choir

Open to any interested 9th-12th grade soprano or alto and meeting 2nd period each day, this ensemble provides students with the opportunity to continue building upon their vocal music skills and knowledge. Topics covered include reinforcing healthy vocal technique, improving musical literacy through solfége sight-singing, building higher level musicianship skills, and singing music in a variety of genres - pop, jazz, folk, to classical and everything in between. 10-12th Grade Treble Choir members perform at concerts throughout the academic year and are prepared for auditions for upperclassmen ensembles for the following year.

9-12th Grade Bass Choir

Open to any interested 9th-12th grade tenor or bass and meeting 2nd period each day, this ensemble is both the foundation for the vocal music program and the opportunity for students to continue building upon their vocal music skills and knowledge. Topics covered in this ensemble include healthy vocal technique, sight-singing through solfége, finding comfort through the vocal change, and singing music in a variety of genres - from pop, jazz, folk, to classical and everything in between. 9-12th Grade Bass Choir members perform at concerts throughout the academic year and are prepared for auditions for upperclassmen ensembles for the following year.

Elation

Made up of students in the Unified Music class at East, Elation is East’s newest music ensemble! This ensemble provides students with the opportunity to explore vocal and performance skills, while affording additional opportunities for leadership, community, and camaraderie. Throughout the academic year, Elation performs in multiple concerts.
